Dr. Bernd Villhauer

Bernd Villhauer, born in 1966, studied philosophy, classical studies and art history at the universities of Freiburg i. Brsg., Jena and Hull (UK) after training as an industrial clerk. After completing his doctorate on a cultural philosophy topic, he worked in the publishing and media sector, most recently as Head of Editing at the Narr Francke Attempto publishing group. From 2015 to 2025, he was Managing Director of the Global Ethic Institute. He is co-founder of the Institut für Praxis der Philosophie e.V. in Darmstadt, heads the “Good Leadership” lab at the European School of Governance and the Finance and Economics research group at the Global Ethic Institute. Villhauer is Senior Advisor Finance at the Global Ethic Institute, his work focuses on sustainable finance, monetary theory and financial ethics.
