Villhauer

Bernd Villhauer is Senior Advisor Finance for the Global Ethic Institute.

He teaches and works on topics related to financial ethics, monetary theory, and sustainable finance.
Born in 1966, he trained as an industrial clerk before studying philosophy, classical studies, and art history at the universities of Freiburg i. Brsg., Jena, and Hull (UK). After completing his doctorate on a cultural-philosophical topic, he worked in publishing and media, most recently as head of editing at the Narr Francke Attempto publishing group. He is co-founder of the Institute for Practical Philosophy in Darmstadt, heads the “Good Leadership” lab at the European School of Governance, and leads the finance and economics research group at the Global Ethic Institute. From 2015 to 2025, he was managing director of the Global Ethic Institute.
