Nils Goldschmidt has been Director of the Global Ethic Institute since February 2025. He is also Professor of Contextual Economics and Economic Education at the University of Siegen. Professor Goldschmidt has been a member of the German Ethics Council since October 2024. In previous professional positions, Goldschmidt was Professor of Social Policy and Social Administration at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and Acting Professor of Social Policy and Organization of Social Services at the Bundeswehr University in Munich. Visiting professorships took him to Roosevelt University in Chicago and the Universidad Católica Argentina in Buenos Aires. Nils Goldschmidt is vice-chairman of the German Society for Economic Education (DeGÖB) and advisor to the German Bishops' Conference on social issues. He is also involved in numerous scientific and social organizations: as chairman of the Action Group for Social Market Economy in Tübingen, the board of trustees of the Ludwig Erhard Forum in Berlin, and the advisory board of the Roman Herzog Institute in Munich. He is also a member of the board of the Görres Society in Bonn and an affiliated fellow at the Walter Eucken Institute in Freiburg. Professor Goldschmidt is co-editor of several journals and series, including the Journal of Contextual Economics – Schmollers Jahrbuch, Ordo – Jahrbuch für die Ordnung von Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft, and the Zeitschrift für Politik. His academic work has been published in renowned journals such as the Journal of Economic Inequality, Public Choice, Constitutional Political Economy, the Review of Austrian Economics, the Journal of Economic Issues, the European Journal of the History of Economic Thought, and the Journal of Institutional Economics. In addition to his academic work, Goldschmidt regularly writes guest articles for newspapers such as the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Süddeutsche Zeitung and is a sought-after interview partner for radio and television. His most recent publications include the books “Gekippt: Was wir tun können, wenn Systeme außer Kontrolle geraten” (2021, together with Stephan Wolf) and “75 Jahre Soziale Marktwirtschaft in 7,5 Kapiteln” (2023, together with Stefan Kolev). Goldschmidt studied Catholic theology and economics at the University of Freiburg, where he completed his doctorate in political science in 2001 and his habilitation in economics in 2008. His research focuses on regulatory economics, business ethics, economic education, social policy, and the history and methodology of economic thought.
