Jonathan Keir is an ethical education consultant at the non-profit Karl Schlecht Foundation. Keir studied philosophy and comparative literature at the University of Auckland, the University of Bergamo, the New University of Lisbon, and the University of Perpignan. After completing his master's degree in his native New Zealand, he worked as an English teacher for several years in Malta, Tokyo, Bolzano, and Taipei before joining the Xinhua News Agency in St. Petersburg as a translator and journalist. In addition to his native English, he speaks fluent Italian, French, Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish, Russian, and German. After successfully completing his doctorate entitled "Warriors for Civilization: Naguib Mahfouz, Andrei Tarkovsky, Tu Weiming and their Western Counterparts," Dr. Jonathan Keir researched at the Global Ethic Institute how Hans Küng's Global Ethic Project can be reconciled with the Confucian Tianxia (All-under-heaven) model and the idea of Dar al-Islam (House of Islam). At the Global Ethic Institute, Dr. Jonathan Keir holds a seminar on “Economics and a Global Humanistic Ethos.”
