Christopher Gohl voted among the top 100 minds in science

The Global Ethic Institute is delighted to receive a special recognition: our managing director, Dr. Christopher Gohl, has been included in the list of the “100 most influential minds in the scientific community” by the Research.Table editorial team at TableBriefings. With the “TOP 100 of the Table 2025” award, TableBriefings honors individuals who have a significant influence on politics, administration, business, associations, foundations, science, and civil society.

Gohl, who aims to strengthen the strategic orientation and dialogue between science and society at the Global Ethic Institute, is considered a pioneer in the field of learning democracy. “If we understand democracy as a learning community, we can better protect, organize, and utilize it,” says Gohl. His research on the agenda for democratic reform (here and here) therefore repeatedly addresses the role of science in democracy. In its portrait, TableBriefings praises Gohl’s “Our democracy must become science-able—and science must become democracy-able.”

His work combines scientific expertise, dialogue-oriented practice, and social responsibility. The award underscores his important role in current debates on democratic resilience, participation, and responsible communication. Gohl advocates for a science that is engaged in and committed to public learning processes of democracy: critical, capable of dialogue, role-conscious, and responsible. Science should neither retreat, because then it becomes irrelevant, nor should it engage in activism, as this risks elitist agitation. Accordingly, our institute promotes public learning processes through media interventions, podcasts, panel discussions, moderations, city talks, and lecture series.

We warmly congratulate Dr. Christopher Gohl on this well-deserved recognition!
His commitment inspires our work and strengthens the social mission of the Global Ethic Institute.
