Artificial intelligence is increasingly shaping our everyday lives—on online marketplaces, in autonomous mobility, in the granting of bank loans, and as we scroll through supposedly reputable news feeds. Trained algorithms play a role in decision-making everywhere. This has both positive and negative consequences for people and societies. But who decides when and which AI is safe, and which is not?
People program and thereby shape artificial intelligence. But based on what view of humanity do they do so? With what awareness of ethical opportunities and risks? What can provide guidance to sharpen developers’ sensitivity to social responsibility amid all the pressure to innovate? How can a trusting dialogue between AI developers and users be strengthened?
These and other questions prompted a joint initiative by the Global Ethic Institute, the Cyber Valley research consortium, and certified Global Ethic Ambassadors from the technology sector. Since July, they have been working together to develop guidelines for professional ethics in the field of AI, which are intended to help better assess the ethical implications of AI.
Artificial intelligence is transforming the world—in medicine, transportation, the economy, and everyday life. But as the importance of AI grows, so does the responsibility of those who develop, use, or regulate it.
The “Professional Ethics for AI Professions” program is designed for people working in the field of artificial intelligence—in research, development, product management, consulting, or policy. It offers a platform for exchange, reflection, and accountability in dealing with AI.
When is the program right for you?
If you work with artificial intelligence and want to develop or deepen your awareness of its social and ethical implications. If you believe that technological innovations also require a values-based approach.
What do you get?
As a member of the program, you become part of a growing network of professionals, researchers, and leaders who are working together to promote the responsible development of AI.
You gain access to insights, discussion forums, and guidelines based on the jointly developed “Professional Ethics for AI Professions.”
