After Corona-related cancellation in the spring and a digital introductory event in June, twelve more executives came together on Friday, September 24, 2021 for the Global Ethic Ambassador Day at the Global Ethic Institute in Tübingen. Personal development was just as important as the exchange of experiences, discussions on issues of (global) ethical business management and networking among themselves.
After first getting to know each other, Managing Director Dr. Bernd Villhauer introduced the basics of Hans Küng’s Global Ethic project and its significance for business. Afterwards, Institute Director and Ambassador Program founder Prof. Dr. Dr. Ulrich Hemel gave a brief input on what can be derived from these principles for concrete corporate and leadership practice: How can ethical corporate management succeed? How can managers make ethical decisions and best deal with ethical questions, problem cases and dilemma situations – be they internal, external or in interaction with stakeholders? Using the methods of the ethical toolbox, the participants analyzed concrete publicly known problem cases of large companies as well as issues from their own everyday life, thus training their ability to speak and act ethically.
While the team of the Weltethos-Institut took away important additional input for the further development of the toolbox – also together with the community – with this event, the participants expressed that the event was worthwhile for them, among other things, because of the content-related professional inspiration, the new personal contacts and their own ongoing learning process towards ethical options for action. “The Global Ethic Institute looks at tomorrow’s world and does not idealize yesterday’s values,” summed up participant Julia Kovar-Mühlhausen, head of the Climate Protection Foundation at the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung.

The next training event will take place on March 25, 2022.
