From May 2021, our colleague Dr. Christopher Gohl will replace Dr. Christian Jung from the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in the German Bundestag. In the 2017 Bundestag election, the political scientist missed out on entering parliament by one place on the list. “Since 2017, I had to reckon with having to interrupt my work at the Weltethos Institute in Tübingen. That I now duly accept the representative mandate in the Bundestag is both a duty and an honor for me as a democrat – even more so in an election year in pandemic times, when democracy must show itself from its best side!” Gohl’s term is limited to six months until the end of the legislative session in October 2021. He will also teach all courses offered during the 2021 summer semester.
Dr. Christopher Gohl has been researching and teaching at the Global Ethic Institute at the University of Tübingen since 2012 on the emergence and impact of values, ethics in business and the economy, and learning democracy. He is the initiator and host of the public lecture series “Weltethos Talk of the Town – What do we learn in Tübingen from the Corona Crisis”.
Between 2005 and 2010, the trained mediator worked as project manager for the Regional Dialogue Forum Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s largest infrastructure mediation and other organized dialogues, including the initiative “Science in Dialogue”. He then worked in the field of political strategy in Berlin. In 2011, he completed his doctorate in political theory at the University of Potsdam on the professional design of political participation processes, for which he received the Endowment Prize of the Democracy Foundation of the University of Cologne.
