„A new and humane liberalism“

Professor Deirdre N. McCloskey is the Distinguished Professor of Economics, History, English and Communication at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was also a Visiting Professor of Philosophy at the University in Rotterdam.

In 2013 she received the Julian L. Simon Memorial Award for her work examining factors in history that led to the advancement of prosperity and human flourishing. Professor McCloskey is the author of 19 books and more than 400 articles; her most recent book Why Liberalism Works (Yale University Press) argues for both an old and a new liberalism in the wake of increasing popularity of illiberal ideas around the world.
